(More customer reviews)Our cottage is in a rural area about 40 miles west of Milwaukee and 50 NW of Chicago. We have been using one of the old "piece of crap" metal antennas for years and have gotten stations from both cities, but always have lots of "snow" to watch through. Bought this antenna and hooked it up this morning. Incredible improvement! Clearer pictures and very little snow (Milwaukee stations are clear, Chicago stations have some snow). Its still certainly not the same as having cable, but its a far cry better than we've had. You can actually see the pictures now in good color. And this was all from just setting it up temporarily inside the house to test it out.
I was going to mount it to the chimney, but will take the other reviewer's advice about the corroded circuitry from being mounted in the weather. I will mount it under the eave instead. In spite of the weather-proofing issue, I consider this a highly recommended product. Just having that little extra boost from electrical amplification of the signal has helped our reception tremendously. And the design is certainly a lot less ugly than the old metal spike antenna! And it was easy to put together.
