(More customer reviews)I live about 45 miles from several TV towers located in Indianapolis. I have some big trees near my house but a pretty good clear line of sight in the direction of the towers. I mounted this antenna on the second floor of my house in a corner walk-in closet on the side facing toward the towers (Southwest). There is a very small window, with plaster and brick walls. I used an old torchette floor lamp as a base to raise the antenna as high as possible from the floor (about 5 ft.). I pointed the arrows on the plastic disk in the general direction of the towers, wired it up, and immediately got 12 stations-- several in HD! With a little adjustment, I am now getting 17 channels. All of the networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) are in crystal clear HD. I'm also getting "extra" network stations (e.g., for NBC in the Indy area -- 13.1, 13.2, and 13.3). I tried a regular (HB-8) UHF antenna in my attic but that did not work nearly as well due to the foil backed insulation. Inside, higher is not always better. I may still experiment more with the HB-8 though. However, I think I am getting about the maximum channels I can get in my area. I am saying goodbye to my cable company's TV service and will be saving about $60 a month. I could not be more pleased with this product. It does an excellent job on both UHF and VHF broadcasts.

Philips SDV2270/17 UHF/VHF/FM/HDTV Digital Indoor Antenna Review

(More customer reviews)After trying 3 different antennas and not finding one that worked very well, I found this one at Lowes. This antenna worked exceptionally well compared to the others I tried. I tried a less expensive Philips model, an amplified square panel antenna, and an amplified rabbit ears model. None of the amplified versions helped a bit. I was installing the antenna for my dad's TV, along with a DTV converter box. He was having trouble receiving VHF stations well. He is about 30 miles from the transmitters. When this antenna was connected, suddenly all the VHF stations came in strong, even some UHF stations came in better. These antennas are really simple and it was very annoying to have to keep returning a simple antenna back to the store. Everything is almost junk out there anymore, so it was a relief when I found this model.

Streaming movies from the web to my PC was lame because I only have a 19" LCD, but they look great with this product on my TV. Netflix streaming through my PS3 was really poor quality compared to the browser based one as well. I also like that I can put together a slide show of my pictures and let the entire family view it on the TV which having to crowd around my computer to see them on my monitor. The best part is the ability to be doing something else on my regular monitor while the the TV shows the movie/youtube/pictures at the same time.

1. The rotating motor broke in five minutes after installation!!! So, I simply rotated it to right position by hands and fixed that with couple screws. It is not rotating anymore.
2. Feels fragile, doubt it survive this winter.
3. Reception is OK but I would expect much better effect (it's roof installation after all). Still don't get those channels, which showed 30% signal before on my homemade antenna in attic.
So, I just wasted $26 paid for this crap, as it is not worthwhile to return and pay for shipping. Stay away from this product.

Electroline EDA 2100 1-port RF/CATV Amplifier Review

(More customer reviews)Been using this for several days now, just one of many drop amps I've tried over the years. It has good contrast, low noise, and smooth, even transmission across the full spectrum of analog and digital channels -- as opposed to several amps that vary in clarity between low-band and high-band channels. It certainly beats competitive products from Motorola, Radio Shack (no surprise!), and the noisy PCT amp with its reddish color balance. The only area in which it doesn't excel is that it lacks a subtle snap and sparkle that I had with my old PDI drop amp -- but that amp's 7 years old and showing its age. It seems to have a softer image than the PCT or PDI. But this is a relative judgment, and most of its competitors don't come close to its clarity of image and clean color. No drop amp is perfect. This one seems worth the few extra bucks. Take some care, though: 15db is more power than many people need. I'm using it with two 2-way and one 3-way splitter down the line, with a total loss of -12.5 db on my line. Thus I actually have about 2.5 db more power than I really need, so many people might consider a 10 or 11db amp as more appropriate. In my case I inserted 3db of Antronix line resistance to avoid overloading my tv and recorders. If it weren't for that slight difference in sharpness and sparkle, I'd have given this 5 stars instead of 4. But most people won't see the difference. For sure, I'd recommend this drop amp over any others at Amazon now in the under-$100 range.

Winegard HD-6000 FM and HD Digital Antenna Review

(More customer reviews)When I replaced my old analog FM tuner with a new one that receives HD, I was not satisfied with the signal strength and quality that I was getting from HD via my indoor dipole antenna. It was time for me to upgrade and this was the solution.
I chose this antenna because it has a reasonable price, is a classic Yagi design and is light in weight. I live in a two-story house, but mounted this antenna above the gable of a single-story addition. Because I live about halfway between New York City and Philadelphia I installed a rotor, so I can aim this antenna in different directions from inside. My installation places the antenna about 20 feet above the ground. I was prepared to mount this antenna higher if necessary but it works just fine where it is. Since this antenna is lightweight and has little wind loading, no guy wires or special bracing were necessary.
My reception has been excellent. I can clearly receive not only all of the FM stations in New York City (about 60 miles away) and Philadelphia (about 55 miles away), I can also receive many other FM stations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. At some places on my tuner's dial, I can rotate this antenna and pick up more than one station on the same frequency from different directions. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase.
