(More customer reviews)I live in the most NW part of Chicago about 12 miles away from downtown Chicago where the main transmission towers are.
We just bought 2 new HDTVs for our house and we have DirecTV but I didn't want to upgrade to their HD-DVR box yet because 1) they want $300 per box and 2) their equipment is junk. I am holding out to see if the TIVO-HD boxes, which are far superior in quality, will eventually work with satellite and not just cable. So, in the meantime, I thought I would try this antenna to see if I could pick up the HD OTA (over the air) signal for my local channels. This little guy works just great! You can't go wrong for the price! You just plug it into the antenna input on your TV and tell it to auto-search for channels.
One of the best things about this antenna is that although it includes a 6' coax cable, the cable is NOT permanently attached to the antenna so you can attach a longer cable if you want to. When I first scanned for channels with the 6' cable, I picked up 30 channels (12 analog and 18 digital). After I attached a longer cable run, repositioned the antenna higher up and near a window; I rescanned and picked up over 40 channels. This was in a basement where our family room is located. It immediately picked up 40+ channels on the first floor of our single story home the first time out. One caveat, you will not pick up Channel 2(CBS) in either analog or HD because it is next to impossible to get in Chgo with an antenna.

(More customer reviews)I was putting this together when the antenna just broke off. They have the antennas swivel heads on so tight that they easily just snap off. This also has a huge clumsy AC plug which is unnecessary and a waste of precious plug space. When I returned this to the store, I saw another person retuning this exact same model also. GE has a much better model that I bought instead that doesn't break and doesn't have any AC plug which works wonderfully. Don't waste your money on this RCA antenna. I give it ZERO stars.

(More customer reviews)The ANT525 is the perfect OTA antenna for me. I had tried 3 others amplified antennas, including the highly rated Terk HDTVa, prior to buying this one and the ANT525 worked the best. I placed each antenna in the same location and the ANT525 increased my signal strength by 10-15 points over the other antennas. The ANT525 is very solid and stable. I'm using antenna for UHF only so I removed the VHF dipoles which really increased the aesthetics of the antenna.
I highly recommend the ANT525. I wish I would've started with this one and I would've saved a lot of time returning inferior antennas.

RCA ANT121 Indoor Antenna Review

(More customer reviews)This budget-priced indoor antenna unit does the job. I received all the local HD channels available in my area with minimal adjustments to the antenna positioning.
The coaxial cable is part of the unit and cannot be removed. The cable itself is rather skinny. That being said, the unit performs, flawlessly.
I have the unit placed behind my 42" plasma with the antenna extended and hidden from view. The location of my flatscreen is top-floor of a house and about five feet from the window. I also used this unit in my bedroom and it worked, flawlessly.
I think the location of your home (relative to the broadcast towers) and positioning of the unit is what matters. Not the brand or price of the indoor antenna unit.

(More customer reviews)I honestly didn't think this antenna would work as well as it does. I bought it hoping I'd be able to watch local broadcast channels with only a few lines, instead of full-screen snow, and it actually gives me picture clarity equal to what I got with cable. The UHF antenna is supposed to plug directly into your tv (I think this assumes your tv was made a long time ago), which wasn't an option with my set, but it turns out I don't need it anyway; channels in the 50s and 60s come in just as well as lower ones. It's also a pretty small unit with a sort of retro 50s design, so it's not an eyesore. Great antenna, especially for the price!

(More customer reviews)while this works as well as any other type of antennae, please be aware the UHF part is stationary...and the VHF "wands" ONLY move up and down from side to side - NOT front and back as you would think it would. i learned my lesson as one antenna broke off right at the base as i tried to get it to do what it wasn't intended to do i.e. move forward. it is an ok product for that OTHER TV you have in the den or guest bedroom... (this may all be moot anyway come Feb 2009 with the new law taking effect)
