(More customer reviews)I received this antenna as a Christmas present and quickly tested it, amplified and non-amplifed, against existing antennae/converter/hdtv combinations around the house. I was shockingly disappointed and like another reviewer found that it did not outperform simple rabbit ears. I swapped the antenna for existing antennae in five different locations, four of which are using rabbit ears or combination rabbit ears w/loops and one using an Eagle Aspen DTV2UHF 2-bay antenna (a clone of the DB2). The RCA had trouble receiving channels that the other antennae had already received and were stored by the boxes or the TVs. When I did a channel scan, it predictably picked up only the strongest stations and dropped a number of stations that the other antennae had already detected. Another gripe I have with this antenna is that it uses a very stiff, thick coaxial cable (approx. ?" in diameter) to connect to the TV (or the supplied amplifier, which also uses this very stiff, thick cable). This cable is so thick and stiff that it can affect the directionality and stability of the flat and lightweight antenna. The cable comes out of the middle of one side of the rectangular antenna, somewhat perpendicular to the plane of the antenna (the flat surface). The antenna may be lain flat (if the cable doesn't get in the way), or stood up using a thick u-shaped metal stand which fits into the back of the antenna on the same end where the cable is attached. Depending on how you position the antenna, the stand and the cable can interfere with each other, a minor nuisance. All in all, it looks like this is one gift that will be going back.
