(More customer reviews)Bought this unit for our RV for over air HDTV and DVD/DivX, Netflix downloaded Movies. We have it ceiling mounted so it takes up no valuable counter space. Firstly, it arrived 2 weeks earlier than promised (supposed to be released May 1, arrived April 14th), so that was great!
Fired it up, attached it to our RCA, powered, rabbit ears antenna and it picked up 31 Digital or HD channels (we live in the East Bay, between San Francisco and San Jose)some as far away as Sacramento. I'd only been getting 12 channels, using the same antenna set up, on my HP PC with a Hauppage tv tuner.
So far, so good, but it was the picture quality that blew us away!! Now, we have a 42", 1080p Panasonic Plasma with BluRay at home, so are used to high quality, crisp images. This little tv's picture quality is superior to the 42" plasma and the color is 'true'. We've had it hooked up and running for 4 days now, and each evening there are a several bursts of "Wow, can you believe how sharp this picture is?" and "I am so impressed with the picture quality of this little tv!"
Can't speak to the sound quality, as we immediately hooked it up to a small sound system, but it plays DVD's and downloaded Netflix movies like a champ. Channel changing is not sloth like as in the previous model we tried.
We purchased a 19inch Toshiba TV/DVD combo a year ago and returned it because we were not happy with the picture quality or the sluggish response when changing channels - it also cost around $700! We went back to watching TV and Movies on the PC, but decided to try again with this 22inch model. We are absolutely thrilled with the purchase and for almost half of what we paid for a lesser unit last year.

Toshiba 32CV100U 32-Inch 720p LCD/DVD Combo TV (Black Gloss) Review

(More customer reviews)I was wary of getting a Toshiba for a TV, since it seems they're not a high seller. But I wasn't pleasantly surprised with the features on this TV. If my math is correct, you're essentially paying an extra $100 for the convenience of having the DVD player built in to the TV, which is not a bad deal if need that.
To sum it up, this is a good LCD high-def TV with some surprisingly nice added features. I noticed that whiter flesh tones appeared a little too red and couldn't seem to correct this with the color adjustments, but that was the only downside.
We bought this TV for our kids' play room and wanted the convenience of the built-in player, so as to eliminate all the cords dangling from the TV.
Details....
DVD - it's important to remember this is a DVD player, and NOT Blu-ray. However, if you're like us, you already have a large DVD collection for your kids, so it's not really a waste.
I was surprised at the quality of the DVD player, which seemed to upscale nicely. (DVD's are formatted for older, standard definition televisions, so the image has to be converted to HD, which has more pixels (dots) to display.)
Blu-ray: I did not test out any features for playing back blu-ray discs, so if you really care about this you should read the manual of maybe other reviews. What I've learned so far on another HDTV is that you'll want control over "judder", which allows you to choose a setting that makes scenes with motion clearer. I'm not sure this Toshiba has those settings, so you may be stuck with what you get. Check the manual.
Power-up and Getting Started: this TV does seem to take a bit longer to power up, I think because it has to check the DVD player first, which slows things down. The getting started guide was great and easy to follow.
I did have one bug - I'm using broadcast HD. That's right, television stations are now broadcasting HD signals for free. Of course, it's not at all close to the number of cable channels, but who cares - it's free! And it's HD.
So you have to tell the TV at setup time what system you're running - and for some reason I couldn't really pick the Antenna setting. However, after the first setup, I simply followed the instructions for re-scanning channels for antenna, and it all worked fine.
Antenna usage - this TV has some great antenna features - it will show you signal strength for each channel. Very nice.
Picture Quality - very good. Again, the only problem I noticed was flesh tones turned out too pink or too red on some channels. I played with all of the color settings but couldn't quite get it right. Movies seemed to be fine.
I did not watch any Blu-ray movies on this, since I had no blu-ray device connected, but DVD movies and broadcast channels looked great. 32 inches is actually a small size for HD TV's, and you'll notice this for a lot of channels, since they still broadcast in the old standard.
KQED here in the Bay Area looks fantastic on this thing (they broadcast often in 1080i, which is very good).
Audio - the sound is good, but not great. Still, you'll be able to understand dialog in movies, so I think it's good enough. In most TV's now, it seems, they don't put the speakers pointing out towards the user, they point down, which is simply never going to sound as good as direct sound.
Other - the TV is small and light and mounted easily to a TV mount I bought off of Amazon. There are a few standard sizes used in standard mounts, and the screws fit right in.
All in all, Toshiba did a very good job with this TV.

(More customer reviews)Purchased to replace a 13-in tube set. Very satisfied with price & quality. It's also lightweight and sleek. Able to set up right out of the box and the picture is extremely clear with vivid colors. Able to pick up digital channels not previously available on non-digital tube set. The dvd player is at the top of TV almost in the center - 4 1/2 in space on right and 7 in space on the left. So it's off-center to the right of the TV, not a side insert as I've seen with other TV/DVD combos. Good remote control with a couple of functions I haven't seen before such as "pause" which immediately freezes any program - when you press pause again, it will start the program wherever it currently is at that moment so you will lose the length of time you "paused." Remote ergonomically easy to hold but because it is long, a little difficult to use one hand to reach all buttons. Also, there's no function for programming favorite channels but there is a button to return to previously watched channel. Must purchase a VGA cable and audio cable before hooking up PC to use this as a computer monitor. Hook up is easy and picture from PC clear. There's a pause when changing channels but it's not too bad. I like this flatscreen a lot and think that the quality is good. 8/25/2010 Update: TV still working great. Small external speakers have been added for fuller sound quality. 1/25/2011 Still enjoying with no problems.

(More customer reviews)If you are looking for a very small LCD TV, this is a nice product. If you have room for a 19", by all means I would go for the larger screen. Keep in mind that, even with the abundance of digital and high def signals out there today, many channels/programs will be broadcast in 4:3 format. Since this TV is a 16:9 profile screen, a 4:3 display will appear that much smaller on this 15.6" screen.
However, if you have a tight space, like on a kitchen counter under cabinets, this TV is perfect. It included a built in DVD player, which is a nice perk. The picture is vivid and HD display on it is excellent. At this size there is absolutely no reason to go for 1080p. For a 15.6" screen, or even a 19", 720p is fine.
At this screen size, Toshiba's competition tends to be "store brands" or no-name brands. This is the lone high quality name brand TV in this class (size).

* Power cable.The TV comes with a QAM tuner so you can pull any unscrambled analog and digital TV signals from your cable company. The TV accepts coax and ColorStream component connections.

* Excellent sound.
* Matte finish screen reduces glare so screen is viewable in bright and low light situations.
CONs:
* Tuner is fairly slow when switching stations.
* Stand is not adjustable for different angles or height.
Overall, this is a nice TV for the price and has many of the functions you'd want. An adjustable stand would be nice but at this size its not a necessity. I'm not sure why the tuner lags as much as it does, taking approximately 2-4 seconds in between channels. If you channel-surf often, this will annoy you.
I would have rated this a 5 had it not been for the slow tuner.

(More customer reviews)I needed a DVD/TV combo for a bedroom, and could only find the iSymphony and Toshiba. The Toshiba reviews were wicked bad regarding sound quality, glare, and contrast. I watched the video for this TV and was impressed, and I looked up the company, which yes, I agree w/ the person who gave it one star, seems like a corporate snarl, but they do manufacture 3-4 brands of televisions, and recently did or are going to, purchase Pioneer. That said, I ordered the product which arrived in perfect condition in its original iSymphony carton, well secured inside with styrofoam. No problem what so ever with it, just remove from box, plug in wall, attach existing cable cord, turn on w/ remote control.
The remote comes taped in the side of one of the styrofoam cushions, so don't toss them til you locate it. Three instruction manuals are enclosed, in English, French, and Spanish. The instructions were minimal at best, not indicating at all how to "start channel scan" which is the first thing that appears on the screen when you power up. Channel scan. Staring at remote. No clue. After some geeking w/ the remote, I stumbled on this protocal: hit the teeny MENU button on the left face of the remote near the top. Arrow down to CABLE, arrow right to SCAN, and it proceeds to load your available channels. It holds from 1-135 only. The DVD is initiated by punching the teeny SOURCE button directly right of the MENU button, and arrow down to DVD. Pop that puppy in and all good. There is no eject on the remote for the DVD, probably because as it is a side-load, this prevents the disc from ejecting onto the floor. You have to WALK to the set to eject a disc :) To resume TV, go back to SOURCE and arrow to TV and you're good.
The sound is incredibly vibrant and clear, the picture is the best I have seen on any sized LCD TV, no glare no problems, it is a true find at this price. I could kick them for not including instructions for the remote, or detailed instructions for set-up, both of which would have knocked an hour off my installation time. Can't say enough good about this combo, it's truly as good as they get and the price is remarkably low. That it is sold by Amazon, and carries their TV quarantee, and ships free, is a deal maker.
*Last thing, the base arrives already attached to the set by 4 deeply recessed phillips head screws, so if you want to hang the set, just power the screws out.* SEE UPDATE
Very impressive unit. Very satisfied. Wish I had gotten a large one and might do so for another room.
*[UPDATE day 2 of ownership] First day of use the MUTE button on the remote ceased to work, except about 1of 15 tries, but the volume control is fast and an OK substitute. I found a Q&A TV site that said a ONE-FOR-All Universal could replace the remote that came w/ this set. May consider that as they are

(More customer reviews)Very solid little TV. I bought it for my sons room and I'm really pleasantly surprised. The tv construction is solid and the performance is respectable. The remote is a little plasticy but has taken some abuse and is still working fine and looking as good as it ever did. (The last might not be a compliment.)

(More customer reviews)Less than two years ago, I bought an Orion/Sansui TV. Less than a year later, it blew up. Was under warrantee, so they had to pay for it's repair. The digital board was shot among other things. Now less than a year after that, it blew up again. Called Orion assuming that the replacement parts from less than a year ago would also be under the same 1 year warrantee, but was shocked to discover they only put a 90 day warrantee on their replacement parts. So I told the lady very nicely that she could at least pay the $35 to have my set looked at by the repair shop and she wouldn't do it. So I told her they were gonna lose one way or the other. I obviously bought a lemon, and they wouldn't stand behind their product, nor their parts. I told her she could help me out, or with my remaining 30 or 40 years on this planet I would tell everyone I know to NOT BUY ANY ELECTRONICS FROM ORION. I assured her that I would be certain to persuade enough people to not buy their product that they would be worse off than standing behind their product now. She chose this route:
DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM ORION. IT IS JUNK, and they will NOT stand behind their product.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this TV /DVD player as a Christmas present and was shocked to find that the T.V. did not pick up one channel with the antenna provided. I got a booster antenna at Radio Shack for $12 and was able to get 22 air channels. The DVD works well and the colors are very nice. I'm not too sure how well it will work when we get out next hurricane or how long the battery will last, but this is why I purchased this item.

Magnavox 19MD357B 19-Inch LCD HDTV with Built In DVD Player Review

(More customer reviews)This TV has an excellent picture in both SD and HD modes, with cable, antenna, and DVD. It is an outstanding value for the price. I would have rated it 5 stars, but I deducted 2 for the screen size. The screen is 16" x 10". (I got one extra inch free.) Why Magnavox would do this is a mystery. I contacted them, and actually reached a support person in a reasonable time, but their only answer was a replacement, so obviously they did not understand the problem. Instead of a 16:9 ratio, it is 16:10 aspect ratio. A standard def picture is 4:4 ratio instead of 4:3. The TV automatically adjusts to fill the screen. This is not defeatable. In HD, 16:9 (or really 16:10) is the only selectable format. So everyone in HD always looks tall and skinny. I may or may not keep this set after I research to see if I can find anything close in value in the proper 16:9 aspect ratio. I'm getting used to it. Jay Leno looks like an athlete.
