(More customer reviews)I bought this model # at the regional chain home store, Menards. Bought it along with a philips rotor and a magnavox pre-amp/amp kit. I had a dormant 30-40 year old array of 2 VHF's and one UHF wired together on a 30 foot tower. From my location reception was always reasonably good, we are 60 miles from two major markets(Rockford IL and Quad Cities IL) and about 90 from a third(Madison, WI). But for a variety of reasons, an upgrade was needed to go all the way with HDTV, also very tired of the $180 phone bill(bundle with Dish Network), so why not give "over the air" a try again after 4 years of the Dish?
Just hooked it all up with all new RG6 cable, and looks great! I turned it between the Rockford and Madison headings(about half way between the two) and very satisfied with the complete lineup from both markets, as well as a few stations off the back side of the antenna too! Many stations coming in fine now are in the "no signal" bottom of the list per the FCC website. Mainly wanted the weaker PBS affiliates and those are looking great too, even Madison's great WHA, Wisconsin Public Television. Basically that was the improvement, I knew I could get the major networks fine before, just had trouble grabbing the PBS signals since they are typically weaker on the FCC maps for this area.
The unknowns are that I did use the amplifier on this, so I don't know what it would be without that, also I am in a nice elevated area with a tower that is higher than the house, but I am very happy with this antenna's performance so far.
I was worried after reading the other review, but checked and double checked the install, new coax, etc., and very pleased.
